International Timber supports homeless charity B.A.S.H

Recently, International Timber was fortunate enough to support Saint Gobain’s Property Department in an initiative to fight homelessness with local Brighouse charity, B.A.S.H.

Founded in 2014, B.A.S.H is a small but steadily growing community group that supports the homeless and vulnerable of Brighouse and the surrounding area.

Hillary Rooke from the Property Department was approached by Alison Mitchell the CEO of BASH  with a drawing of a wooden pod which B.A.S.H wanted to make into accommodation for local homeless people, getting them off the street and giving them somewhere to sleep in the cold weather.

Unfortunately, their prototype wouldn’t have worked as well as they’d hoped due to heat retention and weather resistance.

Refusing to let this stop them, the Property Department sourced a container to enable the fit out. The idea was to use suppliers and various brands of Saint Gobain to provide the labour and materials for free, ensuring no cost to the charity.

International Timber supplied 80m of Ex 75 x 50 CLS for the studwork, whilst other suppliers including Jewson and Minster donated insulation materials, electrical fit outs and further tools.

The team from B.A.S.H were “highly delighted” and Saint Gobain’s Property Department, International Timber and all other suppliers were thrilled to be able to help such a deserving and important charity
