A round up of 2017

A round up of 2017

Over the past year, it’s safe to say we’ve been very busy at International Timber. With a greater diversity of projects, a bigger team than ever delivering our projects and a wide range of new products on offer, 2017 has been pretty special for us. Let’s take a look back at some of our highlights:

Starting off charitable, we were recently fortunate enough to support Saint Gobain’s Property Department in an initiative to fight homelessness with local Brighouse charity, B.A.S.H.. We supplied timber to help the team build a “crash pad”, allowing homeless people a warm, dry place to sleep in the winter months.

We had a couple of heroes in our midst as two International Timber employees helped save a colleague’s life as he found himself choking in the cafeteria during his lunch.

The quick thinkers grabbed their colleague around the waist and performed the Heimlich manoeuvre, which successfully freed the obstruction.

It’s clear that without Graham and Darren intervening, this could have been a life-threatening situation. Their quick thinking, calmness and training helped save their colleague’s life!

Earlier in the year, we were shortlisted as finalists for the Wood Protection Associations Awards (WPAs).

And on top of that, we recently supplied fire-treated cladding to Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries, which went on to win the most prestigious architecture award in the UK, the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award 2017. How cool!

And if that’s not exciting enough, we also supplied material to Monmouthshire Timber Cardiff for a project which saw them create a floating football pitch. But not just any floating football pitch – one for the Champions Festival football tournament with Ryan Giggs and other footballing legends!

Not bad right? It’s been quite the year for International Timber, and we’re incredibly excited to see what 2018 has in store.

If you have any timber needs coming up in 2018, get in touch and we’ll be able to help you out, and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter to keep up to date on all the latest timber news!
