International Timber supplies plywood for Edinburgh primary school

International Timber recently supplied plywood to SJS, who used the material to manufacture furniture for The City of Edinburgh Council as part of their initiative to refurbish classrooms and community spaces in local primary schools.

SJS Property Services provided a bespoke joinery package for this Edinburgh-based project, for which they needed a supplier of FSC-certified timber.

Plywood was selected for its durability, as the end-product would be used daily within the schools. The availability of the specific product was a challenge, but as SJS had a prior working relationship with International Timber, they knew where to go to get quality materials at competitive prices.

The plywood was used internally for furniture, shelving and nooks for the children to sit in, and was finished with a clear lacquer varnish.

The project was completed in August 2018, just in time for the school year beginning.

A spokesperson for SJS said: “International Timber worked with SJS to source suitable quality materials to meet the clients’ specification within a very tight timescale, and allowed the works to be completed during the school summer holidays ready for the pupils return”.

We were delighted to provide FSC-certified timber for this project, which will give young students a functional and exciting space to grow and learn.
